On Tuesday the concrete in our basement was poured. And here's our backyard patio.

The basement:

It's nice to be at this stage of the building process. Almost every time we go visit our house we can see progress being made. So fun!

As you can see, the framing is coming along pretty well. This is two days' worth of work, though apparently the first day the framers only worked for a few hours. So I guess it's one day plus a bit. The basement is pretty much framed.

The above shot is from mum's balcony looking at the back/side of our house. Below I'm standing in between the driveways looking at our garage.

This is the view into our garage, or, eventually from our back windows. It's so peaceful here, I can't wait to have this as our view!

Now I'm downstairs taking pictures of the back of the house. Those back windows are so nice and big it almost seems a shame to put a balcony on the back of the house. Luckily we will have good windows upstairs too :)

We stopped at the house again today to see how work was coming along. The support beams for our basement are here (the orange things next to Andrew!)

Dad, you asked about the retaining wall. Here's a view along the Decker's fence towards their deck. You can see it never really goes above 3 tiers.

Now we probably won't get to go back till Sunday. Hopefully we'll see LOTS of progress by then. I'm going to blog over here about some of the other fun things we've been doing regarding the house!

Framing Begins September 3!

Framing finally started yesterday. I say finally because Kat and Cody's house is getting to the exciting stage and it's making me so impatient to see our house look like it's progressing too. Here's a couple of shots of the work they had done by 5ish yesterday...

And from the backyard up towards the driveway. That little hill/slope beside the house is going to be stairs coming from the driveway down to the basement/backyard. Nice!

It's starting to get exciting at our building site; almost every time we come for a visit something new has been going on. Today they filled our foundation/garage and leveled the lot. See, when you come from the road, there isn't a mountain of dirt anymore!

The house progresses...

We stopped at our new house today to see how it's coming along. Can't wait for the framing to start! This is the view from the side of mum's garage looking towards the wild bit beside our house.
